He then became the pharmacist in charge of Athens Custom Meds from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, Dr. Seagraves joined Pharmaceutical Specialties in Athens as Senior Clinical Pharmacist. Dr. Seagraves has served as a preceptor for UGA, PCOM and South University and was awarded the UGA College of Pharmacy APPE Preceptor of the Year in 2010-2011 and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine College of Pharmacy APPE Preceptor of the Year in 2014-2015. Dr. Seagraves has served as a volunteer staff pharmacist at Mercy Health Center in Athens and became director of their Viral Hepatitis Clinic in 2010. During his tenure at Mercy, he was awarded Mercy Health Center’s Volunteer of the Year (2011), Mercy Health Center’s Best Professional Volunteer (2015), Healthcare Georgia Foundation’s Joseph D. Greene Community Service award (2016) and Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Community Service Award (2019). In 2015, Dr. Seagraves joined Athens Wellness Clinic as a volunteer medical provider. In 2016, he developed and spearheaded the Clinic’s HCV Treatment Program. Currently, Dr. Seagraves oversees a multi-disciplinary team at the Clinic for treating viral hepatitis and frequently takes teams into the community to test for hepatitis C. Dr. Seagraves received the UGA College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award in 2020. In 2022, he received the Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee Humanitarian Award and in 2023, he received the 33rd Annual Emancipation Proclamation Pioneer Award. Dr. Seagraves is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD), the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GSHP), the Georgia Pharmacist Association (GPhA) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Dr. Seagraves currently serves as faculty member of UGA’s College of Pharmacy in the Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy department. nurse practitioner co-founded and ran the clinic what was then called the Georgia Nurses Association Foundation Clinic for the Homeless. In 1993, with the help of many local nurses and volunteers, we became the Athens Nurses Clinic (ANC). Continuously assessing and responding to the needs of our community, ANC expanded not only its programs and services, but also its volunteer providers. No longer a staff of only nurse practitioners, the addition of physicians, medical personnel, and interns led to a new organizational structure and, in 2023, a new name: the Athens Wellness Clinic. During their initial visit, they have a comprehensive appointment with a nurse practitioner or doctor, including a complete lab workup when clinically indicated. This first appointment, scheduled based on the patient's individual needs, is crucial for establishing trust. She also served as Staff Registered Nurse with the Piedmont Athens Regional Outpatient Surgery Center Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Although retired, she currently teaches NCLEX reviews and Pharmacology Workshops with Sylvia Rayfield and Associates. After medical school and residency, family ultimately brought Chris back to Athens in 2023 where he now works at St. Mary's hospital as an Emergency Medicine Physician. Chris joined the AWC board in 2025. He served in multiple C-suite roles including Chief Medical Information Officer and Chief Quality Officer, leading initiatives in quality improvement, population health, health IT, and value-based physician compensation. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine, with prior board certifications in Critical Care, and Clinical Informatics. alternative to a lengthy wait at a hospital emergency room (ER), and qualified patients can walk in for an acute care visit during our morning walk-in hours. Often, common issues such as colds, urinary tract infections, or rashes can be addressed without spending hours in an ER waiting room, where resources are limited and expensive. We may be able to suggest a free medication or affordable over-the-counter remedy to address the issue. To access our services, prospective patients must complete a simple enrollment process. Once enrolled, patients meet with one of our experienced providers during which a complete medical history, physical exam, and lab work with a hepatitis panel are performed. Our PAP plays a vital role in helping us obtain high-cost medications through pharmaceutical company's patient assistance programs. This program enables us to provide millions of dollars' worth of medications to our patients at no cost to them. In addition to our PAP, we reliably provide a broad array of prescription medications to our patients at no cost to them. Working with Buy Wise Pharmacy for short-term supplies and Good Pill Pharmacy for 90-day supplies, we ensure immediate access and medication adherence. Electronic prescribing streamlines the process, sending prescriptions directly to the designated pharmacy. Medications processed through Good Pill Pharmacy are conveniently delivered to our clinic for patient pickup. AWC’s Behavioral Health program actively collaborates with local providers such as Advantage Behavioral Health Systems to expand our network and ensure that individuals who qualify can access clinic services regardless of their insurance status. We also partner with the University of Georgia’s Department of Counseling and Human Development to provide counseling services. We also prioritize culturally sensitive and inclusive care to promote equitable access for all.
