CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS

Russ Cook has been employed in public education for over 48 years. He has extensive experience in Public School Education; specifically, School Board Governance and School System Operations. He is currently employed as a Public Service Assistant with University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Russ joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2019.

Derrick Gable has been employed in the Public Health sector for over 23 years.

He currently serves as Program Manager with Community Health/Health Promotion & Disease Prevention.

Derrick joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2010.

Julius Richie a native of Clarke County . Attended Clarke Co School system, Savannah State University. He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. He worked for Northeast Ga Resa for 34 years and is currently working for the Clarke County School District. He is a former community Engagement vice chair of the Clarke County Democratic Committee. He is a member of the Tad Committee ACCGov. Julius joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2024.

Sylvia McDonald has been employed in the field of Nursing for over 51 years. She is a Registered Nurse with experience in bedside nursing and nursing education.

Sylvia served as developer and former chair of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Athens Technical College. She also served as Staff Registered Nurse with the Piedmont Athens Regional Outpatient Surgery Center Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

Although retired, she currently teaches NCLEX reviews and Pharmacology Workshops with Sylvia Rayfield and Associates.

Sylvia joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2023.

Joseph Nolan has extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and was employed as a Pharmaceutical Scientist for over 35 years. He has a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and his work in the R&D departments of several pharmaceutical companies centered on bone diseases (arthritis and osteoporosis)

He also served as Director of Business Development with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, and is currently retired.

Joe joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2017, and currently serves as our Board Chair

. He has lived in Athens for 15 years and has 2 daughters, one who works in the athletic department at UGA, and one who is an ER nurse in Charlotte NC.

Sarah Morang has had a career in Law for over 15 years.

She is currently an attorney with Frierson & Morang, LLC.

Sarah joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2018.

Libby Hollett has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for over 20 years. Although semi-retired, she works part-time with the Alliance Recovery Center in their opioid addiction treatment program. Libby currently serves as Nurse Practitioner at the Athens Wellness Clinic one day a week. She began working for the Clinic over 20 years ago and after having left for a while, returned to the Clinic. Libby joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2023.

Stephanie Witt is an Adult Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience. She currently serves as Clinical Director at the Athens Wellness Clinic and has been a provider with the Clinic since 2017.

Marvin Nunnally has been employed in Economic Development for over 6 years.

He is currently serving as an Apprenticeship Coordinator.

Marvin joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2007.

Paige Cummings currently serves as Executive Director of the Athens Wellness Clinic. She began working as a volunteer at the Clinic in 2004 and was promoted to Director in 2010. In her previous career, Paige worked as a nurse for the U.S. Navy and the American Red Cross, specializing in medical disaster planning and education. Paige joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2010.

Chris Etchells first experienced the Athens Wellness Clinic as an intern in 2011 when he returned to UGA to complete pre-med coursework. The AWC intern program helped foster an interest in serving the underserved that ultimately led him to Morehouse School of Medicine where he received his MD. After medical school and residency, family ultimately brought Chris back to Athens in 2023 where he now works at St. Mary's hospital as an Emergency Medicine Physician. Chris joined the AWC board in 2025. Chris credits his time as an intern at AWC as a pivotal experience on his journey to become a physician. 

Dale Green is a retired physician and physician executive with extensive leadership experience across academic medicine, hospital systems, and private practice.

He is a former Senior Medical Director at the University of Georgia Health Center and Associate Professor in the UGA College of Public Health, with expertise in health informatics, health system science, and public health education. He served in multiple C-suite roles including Chief Medical Information Officer and Chief Quality Officer, leading initiatives in quality improvement, population health, health IT, and value-based physician compensation. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine, with prior board certifications in Critical Care, and Clinical Informatics. His degrees are from University of North Carolina: AB, MD, and MHA.

Dr. Doug Cleveland’s passion for dentistry and mission work has guided his career for over 38 years. In 1989, he joined the Clinic as a volunteer in the dental care program while maintaining a full time family dental practice in Jefferson, Georgia, until his retirement. Doug continues to volunteer at the Clinic and joined the AWC Board of Directors in 2023.

Dr. Brian Seagraves has specialized in Clinical Pharmacy for over 20 years and currently serves as professor and PharmD faculty member at UGA’s College of Pharmacy. Dr. Seagraves leads AWC’s Hepatitis C Treatment Program where he supervises and mentors College of Pharmacy Clinic interns. Dr. Seagraves has been a Clinical Pharmacist at the Clinic since 2015.

Dr. David Lockman is a retired Physcian interested in finding ways to deliver health care to underserved communities, and has practiced for over 40 years, 35 of which were devoted to his dermatology practice at Cobb Street Dermatology in the Cobbham Historic District of Athens. A well-known and beloved member of the community, David retired from practice in March 2023 but his legacy of providing exceptional healthcare to the Northeast Georgia community lives on. David became a board member with AWC in February 2025.

Kelly Howard recently retired after 13 years as a graphic designer at the University of Georgia, following a 25-year career as a Special Education teacher in Georgia public schools. With more than three decades of public service, she brings both creativity and educational expertise to her community work. Kelly joined the Athens Wellness Clinic Board in March 2025.
