Healthcare Services

At AWC, we treat each patient as an individual, not a symptom. We work closely with each patient to meet their specific healthcare needs and ensure they receive the highest standard of care.

Acute Care

As an alternative to a lengthy wait at a hospital Emergency Room, patients can walk in for an acute care visit during our morning walk-in hours. Often, common issues such as colds, urinary tract infections, or rashes can be addressed without spending hours in an ER waiting room, where resources are limited and expensive. We may be able to suggest a free medication or affordable over-the-counter remedy to address the issue. Because we can treat these issues at the clinic, we conserve valuable healthcare resources.

Hepatitis C Treatment

AWC is one of the few organizations in Northeast Georgia offering free Hepatitis C testing and treatment as part of our Infectious Disease Clinic.

To access our services, prospective patients must complete a simple enrollment process. Once enrolled, patients meet with one of our experienced providers during which a complete medical history, physical exam, and lab work with a hepatitis panel are performed. Following this visit, non-invasive imaging is completed which helps individualize the Hepatitis C treatment.

Prescription Program

AWC offers a Patient Assistance Program (PAP) as part of our commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare to our patients.

Our PAP plays a vital role in helping us obtain high-cost medications through pharmaceutical company's patient assistance programs. This program enables us to provide millions of dollars' worth of medications to our patients at no cost to them

In addition to our PAP, we reliably provide a broad array of prescription medications to our patients at no cost to them. Working with Buy Wise Pharmacy for short-term supplies and Good Pill Pharmacy for 90-day supplies, we ensure immediate access and medication adherence. Electronic prescribing streamlines the process, sending prescriptions directly to the designated pharmacy. Medications processed through Good Pill Pharmacy are conveniently delivered to our clinic for patient pickup. Our dedication to providing reliable, no-cost prescription medications enhances convenience and accessibility for the healthcare needs of our patients.

Behavioral Health

AWC’s behavioral health initiative addresses mental health needs in the community as part of our mission to improve personal well-being.

AWC actively collaborates with local providers such as Advantage Behavioral Health Systems to expand our network and ensure that individuals who qualify can access clinic services regardless of their insurance status. We also partner with the UGA Department of Counseling and Human Development to provide counseling services.

We also prioritize culturally sensitive and inclusive care to promote equitable access for all. In response to the high prevalence of anxiety and depression, our providers are equipped to prescribe basic medications, and we also provide an onsite psychiatric nurse practitioner who handles specialized cases.

Our Community Partners

We partner with many organizations to strengthen our services and support our community outreach initiatives.

As a member of the Northeast Georgia Coalition on Homelessness, we work closely with multiple other non-profit agencies and churches in serving the low-income, uninsured, and homeless, such as the Atlanta Mission Homeless Center. We also partner with Freedom from Bondage and Fresh Wind Women to assist women recovering from substance abuse.

Additional partnerships include our medical internship program which receives applicants from UGA as well as Athens Technical Institute. Through our partnership with UGA’s College of Pharmacy, we are able to collaborate with staff provider Dr. Brian Seagraves who specializes in the treatment of Hepatitis C. Our partnerships with UGA’s College of Family and Consumer Science’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed) and the Athens Area Farmers Market have provided our patients with classes in nutrition and healthy eating habits. Our exciting new partnership with Mary Frances Early College of Education’s Department of Counseling and Human Services will help us strengthen and expand our Behavioral Health program.
