    National Nurses Week serves as a public recognition of the invaluable role nurses play in healthcare, both in the US and globally. 

  • Dates:

    The week traditionally starts on May 6th and concludes on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday, which is celebrated as the founder of modern nursing. 

  • History:

    The International Council of Nurses (ICN) established National Nurses Week in 1953, and President Nixon declared it a national observance in 1974. 

  • Activities:

    During the week, healthcare organizations, communities, and individuals often express gratitude and support for nurses through various activities, such as appreciation events, social media campaigns, and community outreach initiatives. 

  • Impact:

    National Nurses Week helps to revitalize nurses' commitment to the profession, strengthen team loyalty, and deepen the sense of appreciation for nurses' contributions.
