Provider Spotlight: Julie Crowe
Julie Crowe has been a cornerstone of Athens Wellness Clinic for nearly two decades, serving as one of our Nurse Practitioners since 2006. Her long-standing commitment to the Clinic and its patients reflects a deep belief in the importance of accessible, compassionate healthcare.
Julie first learned about Athens Wellness Clinic while working in the ARMC Emergency Room, and her connection to safety-net care runs even deeper. While in nursing school, she volunteered at a free clinic serving uninsured residents and refugees in Nashville, an experience that profoundly shaped her understanding of healthcare inequity. Seeing how many people rely entirely on clinics like these for care inspired her to continue serving similar communities when she came to Athens.
What Julie loves most about working at AWC is the ability to affect real change in individuals’ lives by being someone who listens, validates, and treats each patient with dignity and respect. She emphasizes that every patient who walks through the door deserves to feel heard and worthy of care — something she strives to offer in every interaction.
In her role, Julie provides primary care, caring for patients across the spectrum from chronic disease management to acute concerns. Central to her approach is building strong provider–patient relationships rooted in trust, rapport, and continuity of care. Outside of the Clinic, Julie enjoys gardening, long walks, tennis, and reading.
